Beerstock 5060-14 Detailed Information

Beerstock 5060-14 will be Saturday, August 2nd, 2025 at Ski Park Lake, 17299 S Pioneer Way, Orting, WA 98360. If the following information doesn't answer all of your questions, don't hesitate to contact us at Beerstock5060@gmail.com. (Note: the Ski Park Lake has no information on the event.)

It really helps us to know if your club is planning to attend. Please contact us at Beerstock5060@gmail.com about your club's participation with name and club name. This email is going out to various email lists. You may get duplicate emails, sorry about that. :-) If you don't want to receive further emails, feel free to let us know. If you want to serve beer and aren't with a club, check out the paragraph below titled "Club of the Unaffiliated".

Please help us out by mentioning Beerstock to your fellow homebrewers and let us know of any club or person that has been accidentally missed.  We sincerely don't want to loose or leave anyone out! As always, talk about the following information with the members of your club and those who plan to attend so all are well informed. Thanks so very much!

We are excited to be organizing Beerstock this year and looking forward to tasting your homebrews, sharing some laughs and seeing old friends. It's so nice to get away from the daily toils to attend a joyous celebration of beer and camaraderie. We look forward to Beerstock every year.

Note: We are planning to have the Beerstock pre-registration, membership and event payments be done in the same fashion as last year using the Washington State Homebrewers Collective (WSHC) site, however, we are having trouble gaining access to some parts of it, as of yet. Please be patient, the committee is almost entirely new and we are facing a huge learning curve, so don't worry...and "have a homebrew!" When we get this figured out, we'll send another email about when you can start registering for my personal, favorite event of the summer!

And now (drum roll) here's everything you need to know about Beerstock 5060-14. (Yep, it's the 14th Beerstock!)

2025 THEME:

Augustoberfest: A Celebration of Beer! Yes, you read that right, Octoberfest in August! That doesn't mean you have to limit your brewing skills to German lagers, it's just this year's Beerstock 5060 theme that may spark creativity and tickle your fancy. As always, you can brew, decorate and costume yourself any way way you want. (Forewarning, I plan to break out my lederhosen and say "Ja, das ist gut" all day. :-)

BEERSTOCK 5060: Was ist das?

Beerstock is a homebrew beerfest with the added goal of bringing together a broad variety of homebrewers, from different backgrounds and different clubs, to make new friendships and share brewing tips and tricks, while savoring each other's brews. Senate Bill 5060 was the bill that passed which makes it legal to transport homebrew and share homebrew in Washington state. Unlike most brewfests, you can camp overnight, and just like when you go camping, bring your tent, toothbrush and a cooler full of food, etc. (more info below)

At this year's Beerstock event some of the proceeds will go to Polio Plus because we truly believe that beer can make the world a better, healthier place.

REGISTRATION: (coming soon!)

Please remember that to satisfy the 501(c)(7) rules we are requiring attendees register for Beerstock 5060 in advance. In order to attend, you must either be a member of our Washington State Homebrewers Collective (WSHC) or the sponsored guest of a member.

If you are 21 or older, a homebrewer or a member of a homebrew club, you meet the basic membership requirements. When the site is open, you'll be asked to join the WSHC by paying dues at this site before registering to attend Beerstock 5060-14. Membership dues are $10. You will then receive a $10 discount on your registration fees when registering for Beerstock 5060-14.  Note: the discount only applies to the member.

If you are attending Beerstock 5060-14 as a guest, or have guests attending, Guest Passes must be entered when registering for Beerstock 5060-14, and a sponsoring member of the WSHC must be listed in the field provided. Each WSHC member may sponsor up to 5 non-member guests. You and your club are responsible for your guests. Please choose them wisely.

SATURDAY SCHEDULE:

Please report to the Check-in booth before setting up. Ben and the NorWA club are in charge of the check-in booth this year and are working to simplify the process. All persons on-site must check-in, have their age confirmed with a Drivers License, get a wrist band, a commorative glass and sign a release of liability waiver. As in the past, that waiver will enter you in a competition for handblown glasses and other beer related prizes. Whoot whoot!

SATURDAY, AUGUST 2, 2025 SCHEDULE:

  • 9:00 am - Club booth set-up begins for the early birds.  (The gate might be closed before 9am, so please be patient and don’t force the gate open, forcing causes damage.)

  • 7:00 am - Light Breakfast and coffee

UPON ARRIVAL & PARKING:

Please don't force the gate, it damages the mechanism. If the gate is closed when you arrive call Alison: 425-686-0775. Drive in and talk to the attendant near the booth circle. They will direct you to either the parking area or to drop off your supplies at your booth in the circle. Please drive slowly and be careful of pedestrians. Move your car as soon as you unload. No vehicles may be left in the booth or camping areas, with the exception of security and the bands, if needed.  Please don’t drive through or park in the the roped off areas.  These are sensitive areas that the park owners have requested we help preserve.

We ask that you carpool with your club members when possible. Please let your guests know that there will be a bit of a walk from the parking area to the event area. (This walk is when I get the most impatient--I so want to be in the Beerstock circle and see who's there!) Handicapped parking spaces will be available for anyone who needs them.

CHECK-IN BOOTH:

Everyone must check-in. The Check-in booth opens at noon (or when they are done setting up). Volunteers from NorWA will welcome you. To make the process quick and easy, event registration should have been done by you in advance. If you failed to pre-register and pre-pay, expect a longer check-in time. When checking in you will need to provide a valid ID, verify that you have registered and sign a liability waiver.

Upon checking in, you will receive a wristband signifying you are 21 or older, commemorative tasting glass and write your own name tag (name and club, if you have one). Please note that alcoholic beverages will only be served to attendees with a wristband.

The Check-in Booth has a first aid kit and fire extinguisher, etc.

Do not serve alcohol to anyone who does not have a wristband. Note, there will be some Rotary Club Members that are invited by the Lakewood Rotary Club in attendance to support Polio Plus. They will have their own check-in booth.

BOOTH LOCATIONS:

Booth locations are first-come-first-serve. However, if you are on the Beerstock 5060 Planning Committee or have taken on a major organizational task for the event, your club gets to choose where your booth is located before the event. Please respect the signs stating where these clubs are located.

If you are bringing more members than most clubs, we may be able to assign you a larger booth space. This will be determined as estimated attendance numbers come in based on registration. To request a larger booth, please email us at Beerstock5060@gmail.com.

BRINGING BEER TO SERVE:

Each homebrew club is in charge of their booth and the beverages they plan to serve. You can bring homebrewed beer, mead, cider or wine (etc), in bottles, kegs or whatever, as long as it will tantalize taste buds. The organizing committee is often asked how much beer to bring. There are usually around 200 beverages being served and up to 250 people in attendance. Most participants bring a keg, but a case or two of bottles will work, also. Sometimes a 5-gallon keg will be blown within the first few hours, sometimes you’ll bring home 4 out of 5 gallons. More beer for you! :-)

Each club is responsible for their own jockey boxes and/or dispensing set-ups, signs, tables, chairs, ice, and shade tent. A sign stating what beverages are being served is helpful to attendees. No on-site drinking water is available. Please bring water for drinking, rinsing glasses, cooking, etc. If you forget anything, or find a problem with your set up, ask at the check-in booth, they just might have the fitting or zip tie you need.

CLUB OF THE UNAFFILIATED:

If you are a homebrewer but are not in a homebrew club, or your club is not attending and you want to serve homebrew, you may register under the Club of the Unaffiliated. Contact Mark Emiley MarkEmiley@yahoo.com prior to the event to sign up with him. Check with the Check-In booth staff to find out where you can pour your beer. On the waiver, your club name will be "Club of the Unaffiliated".

T-SHIRTS:

Currently, I don't think we have been given the information of how to do pre-orders for t-shirts. If all else fails, that's fine! T-shirts will be sold in the same method as they were  a few years back, just buy them at the check-in booth with cash.

RULES, AGE, GUESTS & OTHER SPECIFICS:

  • Attendees over 21 will be given a wristband after their age is confirmed at the Check-in Booth. Do not serve alcohol to anyone without a wristband.

  • This is a private event, do not advertise Beerstock 5060 or post event information publicly.

  • Keep in mind this is a homebrew tasting event, not a drunken brawl. Please choose your guests carefully. You and your club are responsible for your guests, and share the Beerstock 5060 information, rules, and expectations with your guests.

  • No swimming in the lake or camping on the putting greens.

  • Any person who commits an act of violence against another person at the event will be banned from Beerstock 5060, and there could be repercussions for the club who invited that person.

  • No weapons or illegal drugs are allowed on the premises.

THINGS YOU’LL NEED TO BRING:

Please remember to bring a valid ID so that your age can be verified at the Check-in booth, as well as a digital or printed copy of your registration pass.

Remember to bring plenty of water, along with the necessities like sunscreen, flashlight, bug spray, tent and warm clothes for the evening. You will also need to supply your own ice. (One year Orting ran out of ice, eek!) There are no outlets available so be prepared with generators or battery-powered lighting for after dark. (The band needs the limited electricity to rock your socks off.)

Please consider tipping each of the groups we hire for entertainment because we pay them so very little. There will also be a way to donate to Polio Plus https://www.rotary.org/en/plus-polioplus if you'd like.

FOOD:

So far, no food will be provided this year. Please plan on bringing enough food for both lunch and dinner, as well as snacks for midnight munchies. Gas and charcoal grills are permitted for cooking, but please protect the grass (see following paragraph). If you have a fire extinguisher, it's always good to have one handy. A light breakfast will be provided Sunday morning along with coffee.

FIRE & SAFETY:

No open flames or fire pits are allowed in the booth circle or in the parking and camping areas. Gas and charcoal grills are fine, but bring something to put under them to catch anything that may drip down. Please don’t dump ash, bones or coal on the property.

PROTECT YOURSELF FROM THEFT:

We hate to mention this, but it is a reality. Keep your valuables on your person, safely packed away or hidden in your locked car.

QUIET TIME & CURFEW

QUIETER TIMES start at midnight because many are already in their tents by then. Turn down or turn off your music. Speak in sultry, whispery voices about the beverages of your choice.

As in the previous years, a 2 am CURFEW will be enforced. This is not negotiable. Start shutting down your booth with enough time to leave the Beerstock circle at 2:00am. This means Club Booths shut down, no more serving alcohol and no congregating in the booth area. At 2 am you should be snoozing. Our security guards will be enforcing this. Due to problems in the past, we must say that any club that does not comply with the curfew will be banned from Beerstock 5060 for one year.

CAMPING:

As always, camping Saturday night is encouraged and free. Please, please, please don't drink and drive. Respect the camping areas. Please don't park in the sensitive areas that have ribbons around them and don't camp on putting greens. Please don't drive near the trees in the sensitive soil areas. Drop off your camping gear and park your car in the PARKING area.

A location has been set aside for campers and RVs in the Parking Area only, however, there are no RV hookups. Follow the signs.

Remember that the camping areas are for SLEEPING. Please be considerate of those sleeping around you by being quiet and mellow while in your tent. Sound travels far in that valley, so be kind with your late night banter.

Beware: In the dark many tents look the same. I suggest you put something obvious at the entrance to your tent that signifies it's yours. It's a common occurrence that a tipsy Beerstocker has stumbled into the wrong tent entirely by accident.

SECURITY:

Professional security guards will be on duty throughout the event watching for troublesome situations and enforcing quiet time and curfew. They will be in clearly marked uniforms, please alert them to any situations that may need their attention, including uninvited guests. (Note: the owners of the park are allowed to attend.) Remember that the behavior of your members and guests reflects upon your club, please try to diffuse any situations before getting to a point where security is needed. If a club doesn't follow the rules, consequences will be considered.

GARBAGE & RECYCLING: please help us Sunday morning by taking a bag :-)

Garbage cans and recycling bins will be available throughout the event. Sunday morning, if you have room in your vehicle, PLEASE take a bag or two of garbage or recycling.  Remember if you pack it in, you must PACK IT OUT. Please leave your booth and camping areas as clean as you found them. After packing up on Sunday, please walk your area and pick up paper scraps, bottle caps, spilled food, pretzels or butts and throw them away. We all love a fun costume, but please avoid glitter and other things that will litter the grass with non-biodegradable trash.

CHILDREN:

You may bring children, but they must remain under your care and watchful eye at all times. Keep in mind that this is an adult event with lots of people drinking, and there aren’t going to be many activities to keep them occupied throughout the event.

DOGS:

We love our furry friends, but there have been problems with dogs in the past. People have been bitten, poop has been stepped in, little dogs have been tripped over, dogs have been left to run loose. Friendly, well-behaved dogs are welcome at the event provided they are held on a leash at all times. As their owner, you are responsible for their actions and for cleaning up after them. BYO poop-baggie.

We are looking forward to seeing you at BEERSTOCK 5060-14 on Saturday, August 2nd, 2025.
